Yahoo vs Microsoft vs Google

Imagine if Microsoft’s blocked access to Google product through their browsers..and offered an alternative search tool.. Iknow it will not happen and i know it would be anti competitive but imagine, a world with out googles dominance.

I think it may be the first time that or second time Google has actually posted results below analysts forecast.

What more could you want, well a few shares in Yahoo would have been good….

Its been a while since i posted on this blog, and I thought time to make a few posts….
My blog actually has a page rank of 1 woo hoo, from nothing to 1 well better than nothing.

Not that it seems page rank is much of a indicator of anything these days….

Microsoft takes aim at Google’s gold mine

I been using the MS windows desktop search more and more on my work laptop, out of necessity whilst looking for old emails fast.
Mind you all my emails are stored quite cleanly and are no more than 4 months old, so its amazing that the i still have troubles finding what I am after at times.
But I digress as usual, its only a matter of time before I click on the web results of a search I am performing.

So may be there will be a battle

Quotify is a part branded site that is part of Life events media.

Interesting idea for a business not dissimilars to service central or even local search.

So far they are covering a couple of industries.

Pest control
Cleaning
Carpet cleaning
Kitchens
Removalists
and securtiy

I wonder what areas they will be moving into next.

The whole life events idea is smart, I swear the old one to one marketing is slowly coming intop play… Next we will be eye scanning like in the
“Minority report”.

Funnily enough I haven’t seen many article on Google Australia.

Shouldn’t be so hard for them being so dominant in the market with what about 80% of all searches in OZ.

And considering they are in the same building as Fairfax it would be hard to not bump into each other literally.

Not to mention the fact that the new boss comes from there as well.

Carsales earnings up 100%

Carsales.com.au has reported income after tax of $11.8m, an increase of 100% on the previous year.

Revenue at the company was up to 62% to $46.2m, with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation hitting $17.1m, up 99%.

“This year has seen significant growth in all core areas of the business and our lead as Australia’s number one automotive website has increased substantially,” said Greg Roebuck, managing director at Carsales.com.au.

“Our recent acquisition of Discount Vehicles Australia further extends our market position in particular in the new car area. The strong management team and continued focus from the entire staff has allowed us to grow the business whilst ensuring that our key requirement of helping our customers to ‘stop advertising and to start selling’ is achieved.”

Carsales.com.au is made up of more than 400 shareholders, including a 50% shareholding by PBL Media.

Ok this product placement works ok…maybe if you have a specific type of site and audience….but the biggest problem for me is the actually products or services to be advertised..check them out they all seems to be crappy quick cash pyramid style schemesss saty away or thats the way it felt to me….would you really wan to be associated with these sites ansd services..tae a look foryourself and make up your own mind 1 1/ 2 out of ten for me.
